Precision Link Conveyors and Medical Manufacturing

Precision link conveyors are a special type of conveyor that are precisely and carefully manufactured for the purpose of doing a manufacturing process.

Unlike traditional conveyors used for feeding parts, or general locating, precision link conveyors are designed for manufacturing to be done directly on them. This requires high accuracy, which is a very important aspect of medical manufacturing. Motion index Drives conveyors deliver very high accuracies of +/-0.06mm (+/-0.002") at each and every link position. In the medical industry many components need to be small and precise. In medical printing or imaging accuracy is also critical in quality parts being manufactured.



Medical manufacturing requires precision link conveyors to be clean and low maintenance. Because Motion Index Drives precision link conveyors are no maintenance, and all mechanical components in oil are sealed as a standard, the fit is instant.  This is crucial in high volume manufacturing because there is no lubrication, meeting most medical manufacturers’ clean room environment requirements.

Medical applications also require high speeds for manufacturing. Because the Motion Index Drives' precision link conveyor has links made of very high grade aluminum, the conveyors inertia is 1/3 that of precision link conveyors made of steel. This allows for very high speed of indexing, but also allows for small drive units, leaving the machine efficient.

Medical manufacturing also may require complicated hosing/wiring and auxiliary equipment that may need to run through the center of the conveyor. Because each and every one of our conveyors conveyors is made for each application, and the center frame of the conveyor is made of high strength aluminum extrusion, any custom modification can be done to meet our customers' requirements.
